There is nothing more heartbreaking than the thought of a child without a family.

There is nothing more heartbreaking than the thought of a child without a family. Yet children of all ages and backgrounds are placed into the foster care system each and every day for reasons ranging from abuse, neglect, and addiction to illness, incarceration, and death. In some cases, a child’s guardian may even give him or her up voluntarily.

Luckily, there are people in this world who are willing to open their minds, their hearts, and their homes to these children. Just like the children they are given to love, foster families are brave, resilient, strong, nervous, scared and, above all, hopeful.

Foster parenting is not easy. From making the decision to figuring out finances to letting yourself love a child you will likely one day let go, there are a million questions and no solid answers. Each child, each case, each day is different.

The mission of this site is to connect you to some of the most helpful resources I’ve found along my own fostering journey, in hopes that you will feel confident about being given a child to love.

I had dreamt of being a mama since I was a little girl. After college, I married my high school sweetheart. Within a few months, I was pregnant with a sweet baby boy. In the next five years, I gave birth to two little girls.
